About QuitBeaver
QuitBeaver is the quit-smoking app that works differently: instead of just counting days, it actively helps you in the moment of craving — with real games, an emotional coach, and scientifically backed distraction.
Our Mission
“We believe quitting doesn’t just take willpower — it takes the right tools at the right moment.”
When a cigarette craving hits, you have only a few minutes before the decision is made. That is exactly where QuitBeaver steps in. Our app offers 56 real games that engage your working memory — the very brain region that generates cravings. On top of that, Lenny, our beaver coach with 10 emotional states, guides you through tough moments.
The approach is simple: active distraction instead of passive counting. Scientifically proven, playfully delivered.
Why We Built QuitBeaver
Over 1.1 billion people worldwide smoke. In Germany alone, around 23% of adults smoke regularly. Most want to quit — but don’t succeed on the first try. On average, it takes 6 to 30 attempts.
What we noticed: most quit-smoking apps only count smoke-free days and money saved. That is helpful — but it does not help in the moment of craving. When you are standing on your balcony at 11 PM and your body is screaming for nicotine, a counter is useless.
That is why we built something that works in exactly that moment: an app that actively distracts you, redirects your craving, and guides you step by step through the crisis.
The Science Behind It
Cravings are not purely a matter of willpower. They arise in working memory — the part of your brain that also processes visual and cognitive tasks. When you occupy that working memory with a demanding task, less capacity remains for the craving.
A study by Skorka-Brown et al. (2014) showed that playing Tetris can reduce substance cravings by 60–70%. The mechanism: visually demanding games compete with the mental imagery that sustains the craving. When those images are displaced, the craving subsides.
QuitBeaver leverages exactly this effect — but not with a single game. Instead, it offers 56 different games that engage your visual and cognitive working memory in various ways. This is QuitBeaver’s core innovation: scientifically grounded distraction, wrapped in a real gaming experience.

What Makes Us Different
Many quit-smoking apps rely on gamification — points, badges, and streaks. That motivates, but it does not actively fight cravings. QuitBeaver takes a different path:
- 56 real games — not gamification points, but full mini-games that occupy your working memory and actively interrupt cravings.
- Lenny, your emotional coach — a beaver with 10 different emotional states who adapts to your mood and personally guides you.
- Panic button with 4-step system — immediate help in an emergency: Breathe, Distract, Reflect, Reward. In under 5 minutes, the craving is over.
- No ads — even in the free tier — we believe ads destroy focus. That is why QuitBeaver is ad-free, whether you pay or not.
- Available in 10+ languages — English, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and more.
Our goal is to build the world’s most effective app against cigarette cravings. Not the biggest, not the most famous — but the one that truly helps when it matters most.
